Congratulations to our Exhibitors, Sponsors & Members

2008 proved to be another successful year!

The WRICA Careers & Employment Expo which was held on Thursday 29th & Friday 30th May 2008 provided a huge opportunity for students & community to experience a wide array of career and course options.

Our event was officially launched by Minister Tim Pallas, Cr. Kim McAliney Mayor of Wyndham City Council, Christina MacGregor MacGregors Transport and Barry Harvey Chair of WynBay LLEN.

Our launch was tinged with sadness as we acknowledged and thanked Peter Krausz for his commitment and leadership of WRICA as President of our group since 1998.  Peter initiated our very first Careers Expo 11 years ago and continued to improve the event each year.  Peter is off to Salesian College in Sunbury, so our loss is certainly their gain.

The WRICA Careers & Employment Expo continues to be strongly supported by the Wyndham City Council, who is our Platinum Sponsor.
Gold Sponsors included Lithocraft, University of Ballarat, LinFox, Werribee/Point Cook Banner, Victoria University and Defence Force Recruiting.  Silver Sponsors were Harry the Hirer, The University of Adelaide, Wyndham Leisure & Events and Australian Technical College Sunshine.

On behalf of WRICA please accept our sincerest gratitude, your support sustains our event, which ultimately provides quality career information for our students & community.

Attendance has been estimated at approximately 7,000, including schools, community groups and general public from both Wyndham & Hobsons Bay regions.  Parents and young people from outside our regions also attended.
This is largely due to the increased marketing of the event.  Lithocraft provided 10,000 brochures that were distributed across 17 secondary schools, community groups and the general public across Wyndham & Hobsons Bay region.  Fairfax Community newspapers provided a ‘Wrap Around’ in the Werribee/Point Cook Banner that is circulated to 46,241 homes across the Wyndham & Hobsons Bay region.  Barry Plant Real Estate provided boards strategically placed throughout the community and the new WRICA website also provided new and updated information regarding the expo.

Exhibitor attendance continues to grow and again has been the largest contingent yet so a big THANKYOU for all your hard work and support.  The venue was wall-to-wall with quality & relevant exhibitors from Universities, TAFE, Industry, Private Providers, Employment & Training Agencies & Government Organizations.

Thank you to Exhibitors who completed and returned our evaluation.  Your feedback is appreciated especially as your comments where so positive, as was the feedback from students, schools & community. This has also allowed WRICA to discuss suggestions for continued improvement in providing a quality and informative event in a safe and comfortable environment.

Important Change for 2009
Due to growing interest, the WRICA Careers & Employment Expo will be extending the hours of the Thursday session in 2009 to enable the community and parents and their children to attend after school hours and work.
WRICA have already received interest from current and possible new exhibitors for 2009. So here are the dates, pencil them in now!

Thursday     14th May 2009       9am to 6pm
Friday           15th May 2009       9am to 3pm

Again, thank you for this year and I look forward to seeing you at our 2009 event.

Debbie Gray
